My Story
Full Circle: How the 60th Anniversary of the Mustang brought me back to the Mustang stable. My obsession with Ford's pony car started back in the early 1980s. As a high school kid, there was nothing cooler than rolling into the school parking lot in my first car: a 1969 Mustang Sportsroof powered by a 302. That car cemented my love for the brand. By the mid-to-late 90s, I stepped things up to my second pony, a 1969 Mach 1 with a 351. Both of those '69s left a lasting footprint on my life. Life moved on, but the itch to get back into a cockpit never truly went away. In early 2024, I decided it was time. I initially had my eyes locked onto a used '23 Mach 1 as a nod to my past. Then came April 5, 2024. My wife and I headed over to Birmingham, Alabama for the 60th Anniversary of the Mustang event at Barber Motorsports Park. While we were checking out the incredible display fields, I had the opportunity to do a ride-along on the track inside the new 2024 Dark Horse. The performance, the exhaust note, and the sheer power completely blew me away. I looked at my wife and said, "I have to have one of these." I didn't waste any time. The moment we left the event, the search was on. I got incredibly lucky and located a brand new Dark Horse sitting right at a local dealership. On April 6th—exactly 24 hours after experiencing the Dark Horse at Barber—I signed the paperwork and drove my third Mustang home. It’s been an incredible ride so far!
